It was a dark and stormy night- that is where we join our heroine. The rain had been falling steady for the past 14 hours. 9:43 pm. Zeppelin on the ipod. Turning into the lakeside town of Lac La Biche, our heroine stops for coffee, smokes and a mandatory washroom break, after 12 hours on the road. The total for the smokes and two coffee drinks; $18.28. The rest is surreal.
Heroine: *hands cashier a twenty dollar bill*
Cashier (about 18 years old): *gasps as the cash register opens* I hate that when that happens!
Heroine: what?
Cashier: Now I can't enter the amount and I hate counting change. *looks at the cash register for a moment and frowns nervously* umm...how much do I owe you?
Heroine: *long blink* one dollar 72 cents.
Cashier: *embarrassed* I don't know how to count change.
Heroine: *long blink* no worries. Counting up is hard.
Cashier: *giggles* that's not very nice!
Heroine: *grabs loot, smiles, and exits stage right*
True story.
