I’m currently working as an archivist (of a sort) for an Oil Sands construction company in the wilds of northern Alberta’s boreal forests. Like many people in the industry, I live part of the month in a construction camp and the remaining 4-8 days at home. Sometimes I don’t even go home. Those times I just wander off some where and get lost for a few days then find my way back to camp. My life can be surreal but it’s never ever boring.

the other stuff - essential facts about me that you need to know

1. I wear a lot of black. I've recently started adding colour to my wardrobe but I will not foresake black.
2. I am a Mac addict and the proud owner of 4 ipods (2 nano's [1 nano FUBAR Mar 08], 30GB U2 ipod [stolen Mar 08], ipod touch), one 17" MacBook Pro and one 13" MacBook (white).
3. I am a bibliophile. I own a lot of books and I read a lot of books. That last sentence is an understatement. Really.
4. I took Windows network administration and web development in college. I am a computer geek and I read technical manuals for fun.
5. I heart Zombies.
6. I study Ayurveda and Yoga.
8. I am a Star Wars geek. It's incurable-- sorry.
9. I drink way too much coffee and spend most of my day in an overcaffeinated bliss.
10. I don't eat fast food. Period. So it makes sense that I'm a member of the Slow Food movement.
11. My three favourite bands: Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Tool.
12. Like Ananth from applegeeks, I am a threadless whore.
13. I live in jeans and t-shirts but I have a fondness for microfibers. It's the geek in me.
14. mmm...cashmere.
15. I suffer from technolust-- that too, is incurable. heh.
16. did I mention my my other fondness? Toyota trucks.
17. oh and I love hockey. a lot. The Vancouver Canucks is my team but I dig the Calgary Flames as well.
18. Football, baseball and Soccer are fun too.
19. Albert Einstein is my hero-- but there are others.
20. I'm training for a 10k -- it's hard work...maybe too hard.
21. I would spend every weekend snowboarding or at a spa if I could get away with it.
22. It's the sensualist in me. Me and bliss are like peanut butter jelly.
23. I don't like the colour orange with few exceptions.
24. wine, beer and philosophy = a good time.
25. sex is better though. It's probably the best thing ever.
26. The Empire Strikes Back -- favourite movie of all time.
27. Close Encounters of the Third Kind and ET the Extra-Terrestrial come a close second and third.
28. Peas, Swiss Cheese and Celery: don't bother, I won't eat them.
29. I'd rather travel in my own country then travel around the world.
30. but I still have a goal of visiting all 7 continents with 5 more to go.
31. I thought Picasso was overrated until I viewed a collection of his paintings. I was wrong, very wrong.
32. but alas, Van Gogh is still my favourite painter.
33. my goal is to build a house in Saskatchewan. Kind of an obsession to be honest.
34. I don't trust western doctors. They're too eager to write prescriptions for everything.
35. I enjoy my tea with milk and sugar. It's been that way since I was 4 years old. I'll never change.
36. I have an odd collection of coffee mugs. I dunno why...
37. I don't own a television.
38. so I watch dvds on MacBook Pro.
39. including Heroes, Battlestar Galactica, Numb3rs, Bones and NCIS.
40. okay, and Sex in the City (I'm still a girl afterall).
41. I know how to fire single shot and semi-automatic rifles.
42. that's because I'm a military brat and spent a few years in army cadets.
43. I have a preference for small brewery beer.
44. my favourite beer is Maple Creek Pale Ale from Granville Island breweries.
45. I heart red wine.
46. I like manly men or geeky men-- none of that metrosexual nonsense.
47. my favourite meal is soup and a sandwich. why complicate it?
48. I enjoy reading about the philosophy of wabi-sabi.
49. I don't chew gum.
50. I pretty much enjoy anything that makes me bliss.
51. I really enjoy laundry night. I find doing laundry comforting.
